About Me
Mrs. Chanda W. Davis
7th Grade Science
Hampton Cove Middle School
I have been with the Huntsville City School System for 12 years. I currently teach 7th Grade Science at Hampton Cove Middle School in Hampton Cove, Alabama. Before coming to Hampton Cove I taught Biology and Chemistry at Butler High School, where I served as the majorette and dance team coach.
Upon graduation from the University of Alabama at Huntsville, with a degree in Biology/Chemistry (minor), I received a Master’s Degree in Biology Education from Alabama A&M University. I’m currently in the process of applying to the University of Alabama with hopes of pursing an Educational Specialist Degree in Science. Last summer I became a Real Estate Broker for the State of Alabama and have been actively practicing real estate during the summers for approximately 10 years.
I am married with three beautiful little ladies who are actively involved in sports and drama. I recently became a member of The Rock Worship Center. I was awarded a $2500.oo grant from the Alabama State Department of Education to attain National Boards in Science Education. I won’t know the results until November of this year. I also received an educational grant from Alabama A&M University on August 26, 2008 for a self-developed research project to test the growth rate of using human hair as a fertilizer base. This project will be extended during this academic school year thanks to the $20,000 grant awarded from the University of Alabama. We are partnering with New Hope Elementary to supply fresh flowers and vegetables to the community or New Hope. Therefore, students will learn through the endeavors of community service.
I am currently Huntsville City School’s Teacher of the Year, PTA Teacher of the Year, and Hampton Cove Middle School’s Teacher of the Year. I am blessed each day to pour into the lives of your precious children. I am grateful for the parent support, administrative support, and for the great community of Hampton Cove. I give special thanks to the woman who poured her life into me, my Aunt Dora Jackson. She is a life-long educator, for she taught me how to read, write, and pushed me in the field of mathematics when I was thought to be unreachable by many of my teachers. So, now I am dedicated to giving others what my favorite Aunt gave me—a chance to explore the world through learning.
Your Teacher,
Chanda W. Davis
