About Me
Mrs. Chanda W. Davis
9th Grade Biology
Huntsville High School
I have been employed with the Huntsville City School System for twelve years. I currently teach 9th grade biology at Huntsville High School. The most amazing years of teaching were at Hampton Cove Middle School for the last seven years. The first 4 years of my teaching experiencewas served at Butler High School where I taught biology, chemistry, and physcial sciences. I also coached the award winning dance/majorette team.
Upon graduation from the University of Alabama at Huntsville, with a degree in biology/chemistry (minor), I received a Master’s Degree in Biology Education from Alabama A&M University. I’m currently enrolled at Alabama A&M University pursuing an Educational Specialist Certification. I also work closely wiThu the Food and Science Department to assist with Biotechnology and STEM research. I have been practicing real estate for the last 10 years and became a Alabama Real Estate Broker three years ago and was recently certified to be a Real Estate Instructor this past summer. I currently teach prelicense and postlicense classes at Realty World South.
I am married with three beautiful little ladies who are actively involved in sports and drama. I recently became a member of The Rock Worship Center. I was awarded a $2500.00 grant from the Alabama State Department of Education to attain National Boards in Science Education. I am still in the process of striving to attain this achievement. I also received an educational grant from Alabama A&M University on August 26, 2008 for a self-developed research project to test the growth rate of using human hair as a fertilizer base. This project will be extended during this academic school year thanks to the $20,000 grant awarded from the University of Alabama through Alabama Learn & Serve. Hampton Cove Middle School has partnered with The Academy of Academics and Arts to supply fresh flowers and vegetables to the community. Therefore, students will learn through the endeavors of community service. Hopefully, my students at HHS will work collaboratively with students from HCMS to serve as peer tutors.
I was awarded Huntsville City School’s Teacher of the Year 2009/10, PTA Teacher of the Year 2009, and Hampton Cove Middle School’s Teacher of the Year. I was also honored to be selected as a finalist for the National Shell Science Teaching last year. I am blessed each day to pour into the lives of your precious children. I am grateful for the parent support, administrative support, and for the great community of Huntsville. I give special thanks to the woman who poured her life into me, my Aunt Dora Jackson. She is a life-long educator who taught me to value education. So, now I am dedicated to giving others what my favorite aunt gave me—a chance to explore the world through learning.
Your Teacher,
Chanda W. Davis
