2.stratified-to form or place in strata or layers (sentence) People always stratify items. substratum-something that underlies or serves as a basis or foundation (sentence) Substratum is a long word to me.

stratophere- the atmospheric layer between the troposphere and the mesosphere.

In English we had to look up what stratified meant.
Stratosphere is the second layer of atmosphere.
