Birds- Male birds do not have penises like the male human does. Birds match up their cloacas by the male bird getting on top of the female bird and sperm fertilizes the eggs. Birds do not have sex like humans do. B. Humans- Male humans have a penis and humans have sexual intercourse. Sex is where the penis is inserted into the female's vagina and millions of sperm travel to fertilize the egg which are released monthly usually one at a time by the female human. If a sperm fertilizes the egg then cells begin splitting and a baby is formed. C. Ants- This is a complex system unlike the simple human reproduction and there are many dynamics to how ants reproduce. Only the queen ant actually has sex with the males who are fertile. Workers are sterile females and they never have sex. Winged ants are fertile males and females. Only the queen ant lays eggs. go through complete metamorphosis egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The queen mates with male ants and stores the sperm in a special organ, her unfertilized eggs can actually hatch into males. The queen can decide which sperms are released into her eggs. She lays eggs for the rest of her life. D. Sea Star- Sea Stars reproduce by free- spawning. free-spawning: which means they release their gametes into the water where they are fertilized by gametes from the opposite sex. Sea Stars do not have sex. The do have chemical signals that tell each other when they are ready to spawn which helps them know when to gather and many of them will spawn in the same area to make the chances greater of reproduction.
