napthalene helps grow bacteria to help break down oil residue

where there is oxygen, 3 types of molecules can be broken down

if there is no oxygen the molecules are slow to degradee

microbes are used to break down and distroy oil molecules

microbes are moveable

1. Naturally occurring microbes in mudflats play a role in breaking down and cleaning up spilled oil.
2. When there is abundant oxygen. the microbes can break down three different chemicles.
3. In the absence of oxygen, the process of degredation was much slower.
4. Naphthalene stimulates the growth of a bacterium proven to break down oil residue.
5. Mudflats need to be conserved so that they can provide the ecosystem with a natural clean up area for pollution.

Pollution is causing micro-organisms to break down petrochemical residues. Benzene, toluene, and naphthalene are all in petroleum. Scientists investigated three chemicals on the make-up microbial communities. Cyclocluastics spirillensus is a bacteria that can be used as a natrual way of cleaning out polluted areas. So as you can see there are alot of ways to clean up polluted areas.

1. Organic microbes are helping clean up oil spills.
2.Bacteria could be a solution to pollution.
3. The scientists also investigated the impact of the three chemicals
4. It is essential that mudflats are preserved
5. Micro-organisms have been occuring naturally in the coastal mudflats.

1. The micro-organisms occur naturally in coastal mudflats have an role to play in cleaning up pollution.
2. They break down petrochemical residues.
3. The petroleum breakdown products are degraded with oxygen only can a few be completely broken down in the absence of oxygen.
4. A contaminated environment oxygen is quickly depleted and anaerobic breakdown becomes an important mechanism for getting rid of contaminants.
5. Naphthalene stimulated the growth of "Cycloclasticus spirillensus", a bacterium known to break down oil residues

Micro-organisms clean up pollution .
Research reveals differences in the speed of degradation of the chemicals depending if oxygen is present.
When there was oxygen petroleum rapidly degraded
When there was no oxygenthe degration process was slower.
Cyclocluastics spirillensus is a bacteria that can be used as a natrual way of cleaning out polluted areas.
